Large studios are slooooowly introducing more diverse characters into their movies, and this year have been dipping a toe into the LGBT spectrum. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast featured that “exclusively gay moment,” and Power Rangers boasted history’s first gay movie superhero, but we have yet to have anything concrete. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn was asked about whether he’d consider putting a gay character in one of his Marvel movies, and his response kinda sounded like he already had.

We’ve already seen those awesome slow-mo shots of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince charging through the war-torn battlefield in the Wonder Woman trailers. Her red and gold armour shines against the backdrop of the smoky blues and browns of the European battleground. But the moment where Diana finally sheds her Amazonian garb to unveil her iconic superhero uniform is bound to be one of the most exciting for fans.

This past weekend saw the Coachella Music Festival descend on the deserts of Indio, California for a multi-day celebration of artistic expression, obscenely expensive designer drugs, and that thing where white women dress up in traditional Native American garb. Among such Top 40 stalwarts and tastemaker-blog darlings as Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead and Lady Gaga, an unexpected name claimed the mainstage: German composer of film scores Hans Zimmer, bringing his touring act to new highs for the festival attendees. Before signing on for Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins was almost Marvel’s first female director — for Thor: The Dark World. Citing universal uh-oh phrase “creative differences,” Jenkins left that project and later made a deal with Warner Bros. for Wonder Woman. But that doesn’t mean all of her Thor plans have been consigned to the dust of history.

Warner Bros, so far, has succeeded mightily in getting us all very, very hype for this summer’s Wonder Woman: the poster releases have been gorgeous, and the one full-length trailer we’ve seen looks stunning. Today, we have more good news: a new trailer for the movie will drop tomorrow, and, to whet our appetites, here’s a short look of what we can expect.

Wonder Woman may have some of the most gorgeous superhero posters of all time. The first poster, revealed last summer, saw Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince standing amongst a cloudy blue sky and pluming orange smoke. Those same burnt orange and red hues make up the visuals of the latest poster for the upcoming DC movie.

This year at Toy Fair, Mattel once again lifted the curtain on a number of new figures and collectibles based in the DC Universe. From the continuing DC Multiverse figure line, which mixes the comics, television and movie properties, to DC Super Hero Girls and Teen Titans Go!, there was little that Mattel showed that didn't elicit excitement from everyone in attendance. However, the biggest surprise was clearly the unveiling of the Wonder Woman DC Multiverse wave, which gave us our first clear look at the DC Cinematic Universe version of Ares.

Jennifer L. Meyer is an amazing artist who specializes in drawing animals; often anthropomorphized ones. She’s illustrated picture books, chapter books, and comics, working with companies like Scholastic, IDW, First Second, and Dark Horse.
