It’s relaunch season at Marvel Comics, and while that always brings a wave of new and exciting titles, it also means we have to say goodbye to titles that are cancelled quietly and shuffled away into a category marked “Cult Favorite”. The past month has seen the end of a number of critically acclaimed titles including Nighthawk and A-Force, but the one I’m going to miss the most is Mockingbird by Chelsea Cain, Kate Niemczyk, and Rachelle Rosenberg, which ended with its eight issue recently.

Jim Lee is a businessman, a superstar artist, the talent behind the best-selling single issue of all time, the figurehead of the indie revolution, and the co-publisher of the oldest established comics company. Lee went from struggling artist to industry-topping fan-favorite, he co-founded Image Comics, and he helmed many of Marvel and DC's highest-profile projects. His hyper-detailed, fine-line technique has inspired legions of imitators, and influenced generations of creators, making him one of comics' best-known and most recognizable creators. And today is his birthday.

'Big Hero 6' is Disney's first animated movie since the massive success of 'Frozen' and it's also Disney's first animated Marvel movie. For those reasons alone, 'Big Hero 6' should make a ton of money. But, then you see this brand new trailer and you realize this is a movie that both kids and adults alike are gonna love.

In 1977, Marvel Comics published the very first 'Star Wars' comic book. Now, nearly 40 years later, George Lucas' beloved universe is coming home. In an act of unsurprising corporate synergy, Lucasfilm has announced that, beginning in 2015, Marvel will exclusively publish new 'Star Wars' comic books for the fans hoping to experience the saga outside of the main films.

Bottom's Up is bringing stand-up comedy to Sedalia this weekend as they host the "As Yet Unnamed Comedy Roadshow" this Saturday (June 15) at 8 p.m.  This traveling group of stand-up comics have performed throughout Mid-Missouri and include comics Bill Fisher, Patrick Mahon, Nick Gorges, Justin Luke, Tom Skinner, Louis Doerflinger, Adam Boughton and Rob Harris.
