Busking is an important rite of passage for any performer who really wants to improve his or her craft, and there's really no better way to build up the chops — and thick skin — one acquires after trying to capture the attention of total strangers. That being said, there's definitely a baseline level of skill that every musician needs to develop before plying their trade in public.

As NME reports, this hard truth was recently learned the hard way by an unidentified Danish musician who had his set interrupted by local police — apparently because after hearing his cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall," they decided everyone would be better off if he went home and practiced.

"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you," reads the local authorities' official website. "Just because you can play ‘Wonderwall’ does not mean you should."

As residents of just about any major city can readily attest, it's relatively rare for the police to step in and put a stop to a busker's performance on qualitative grounds. Still, "just because you can doesn't mean you should" is pretty sage advice in any number of situations, and to their credit, the officers who broke up this particular set didn't just send the chastened musician home — they also offered some additional words of wisdom.

"The guitarist played loud, bad and noisy," added the department's explanation of the incident. "He did not sound like Liam Gallagher."
