Sedalia Police responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred in the 1000 block of E. 10th early Saturday morning.

The victim, who was in a romantic relationship with the suspect, was allegedly stabbed in his right arm shortly after 6 a.m., by the suspect, who was wielding a pair of green scissors. The victim was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment.

A search for the suspect led to the 26000 block of Goodwill Chapel Road, then to the 100 block of W. Cooper, where 36-year-old Cherrika Pauline Buckner Jefferson was located and taken into custody.

Jefferson admitted to the crime, according to a Sedalia Police report. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending the filing of formal charges. She is accused of 2nd Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action.
