The Smith-Cotton Tigers open their 2012 football season in Southwest Missouri at Nixa on Friday, August 24 to battle the Eagles. Head coach Mark Johnson, in his 14th year at Smith-Cotton, will lead a young team with only seven seniors and the balance of underclassmen, including four freshmen on the varsity roster.

The Tiger’s returning starters include mostly linemen which will bolster their running game. Junior QB, Dakota Brown, expects to get most of the snaps this year. The Nixa Eagles graduated many of their seniors from a 10-2 year in 2011 which took them to the state quarter finals, but return numerous starters in key positions.

This will be the first game between these two schools.

Live coverage of all Smith-Cotton Tiger football games can be heard on 92.3 BOB FM, and streaming live on 923bobfm.com. Pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m., and the kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
