There was a 2.6 magnitude earthquake that struck the Clinton, MO area at 12:20 this afternoon (April 4). The United States Geological Society received several reports that it was strong enough to be felt by people in the area.

The earthquake was centered just southeast of Missouri Highway 13 and Missouri Highway 7.

There was no reported damage as a result of the earthquake. This is the fourth earthquake in the area in the last 15 years. The largest earthquake of the four was on May 18, 2005, that also occurred in the Clinton area, with a registered 3.3 on the Richter scale.
