The State Fair Community College Foundation’s “Sangria Sunset” event recently raised $73,000 for the college’s technical education facility and programs.

SFCC says 350 tickets were sold for the event that took place in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on March 10.

The SFCC Foundation is using the proceeds from the fundraiser, which included dining, Dessert Dash, dancing, karaoke with live bands, and auction to support the college’s goal to build a technical education facility, while also renovating existing facilities and adding technical programs that will meet workforce demand.

“The foundation board was very happy to host this special evening again,” said Mary K. Treuner, SFCC Foundation executive director. “The Dessert Dash was a hit again raising $22,000, which is about $9,000 more than last year. We’re so grateful for those who donated desserts, the Nursing Club members who served food and many others who helped make it a fun night. The community’s generosity and support for the college is remarkable.

“Both bands, One Track Train from central Missouri and Young Guns from Chicago, did an amazing job. Our technical program students and instructors created beautiful and useful items for the auction, and I want to thank them for making it a success.”

Jeremy Garber served as auctioneer, and Dr. Joe Gilgour, dean of Student Support and Academic Services was the master of ceremonies.
