Here's a look at what's going on this weekend.

The 8th Annual Waverly Haunted Hayride is Friday and Saturday October 24th and 25th. 

The event will be held at  the Waverly Community Building. New this year, there are games in the community building and some great food.  Ticket sales start at 6pm and the 1st hayride leaves at 7pm. Cost is $5.  Riders on 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sedalia Scottish Rite Club will serve pancake breakfast on Saturday, October 25 from 7 am until noon.

The Breakfast will take place at the Masonic Temple, 601 Broadway for a cost of $5.  Local Masonic bodies bodies raise money which is matched by an outreach element of the Missouri Masonic Home.  The total amount is distributed through local schools to help students whose needs are outside of the “normal” list of things charities provide.  Over the past several years the bodies in Sedalia have annually distributed from $3,000 to $6,000 to schools in Pettis County.

AnimalFAIR will present an adoption day.

Tractor Supply Company will be hosting Animal Fair And Print for Paws Event this Saturday October 25 from 9am – Noon.  Animal Fair will have pets available for adoption.  Print for Paws- Clay print of your pets paw print – proceeds to help Animal Fair Rescue.

The Show Me Sound Chorus is looking for new members.

If you’re a woman who likes to sing, the Show Me Sound Chorus invites you to join them for a day.They’ll be meeting on Saturday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. for a fun day of learning to sing today’s a cappella 4-part harmony, barbershop style.  It’ll be held at the Katy Park Baptist Church, 901 West 24th.  You’ll learn a new song, and then participate in our public performance at 3:00 p.m.  There is no cost or obligation.  For more information, call Shirley at 826-7206.

The Range Line Presbyterian Church will have a Lord’s Acre Sale. 

They’ll have a Brisket and Turkey Dinner beginning at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $7, and children aged 6 years to 12 years are $5.  The Sale starts after lunch at 1:30 p.m. Come have lunch and participate in the sale.  The Church is 14 miles North of Sedalia on 65 Highway to Highway CC west to Range Line Road right to church, or six miles east of Houstonia on CC to Range Line Road,  left to church.  Sale items include but are not limited to quilts, craft items, needlework, baked goods, canned goods, turkeys, pork products, 200 gallon propane courtesy of Guier Propane Inc.

The Georgetown Methodist Church will host a Lord’s Acre Sale.

It’ll be held on Saturday, October 25 with lunch beginning at 11:00 a.m.  The sale, at 1:00 p.m.,  will consist of frozen meats, baked goods, produce, crafts, canned goods, home made candy.  The lunch will have chili, soup, polish sausage, hot dogs, pie and drinks.

The Bethel Assembly Family Fest is coming up on October 25 from 1-4 PM. 

We are having games, inflatables, food, emergency vehicles for kid’s to look at, and pony rides. The Family Fest is located at Bethel Assembly on 1201 North William Parkhurst Dr., Sedalia, MO. For more information, call (660)827-0020  or visit http://www.bethelassembly.info

The 14th Annual German Dinner will take place on Saturday, October 25. 

It’ll be held at the Immanuel United Church of Christ at 4th and Vermont from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  They’ll have sauerbraten, german potato salad, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, polish sausage, sauerkraut, homemade applesauce, green beans, beets, hot rolls, salads, desserts and drinks.  Carry outs are available.  Visit the country store.  Tickets for adults in advance are $10, for kids 6-12 it’s $5.  5 and under eat for free.  At the door prices go up one dollar.  Proceeds go to the IUCC church needs and local charities.

The Johnson County United Way Chili Cook-Off and Sweets Auction is on October 25.

It is Saturday, October 25, 4:00 to 7:00 at the Warrensburg Senior Center. Two different Sweets Auctions start at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm sharp! Tickets at the door are only $5 while children are $3.

The First United Methodist Church will host a Fish Fry.

It’ll be held on Saturday, October 25  at the church, 1701 W 32nd St from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., or until the food runs out.  They’ll have all you can eat fish, chips, slaw and beans.  Cost for adults is $10, ages 6-11 are $3, and under 5 eat for free.  All proceeds will go toward Buddy Packs (food for kids).

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Ham and Bean Dinner will be on Saturday, October 25.

It’ll be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 2591, 121 South Ohio for a cost of $5.  They’ll have ham and beans, cole slaw, cornbread, dessert with coffee and tea.  For more information, call Larry Reven 660-473-9213.

The Noonday Optimist Club will be holding their Haunted Hayride.

They will be holding it on Saturday, October 25.  Rides start after dark and run approximately from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, west of the Grandstand.  The cost for adults is $5, the cost for children is $4, and 5 and under get on for free.  They’ll have the hayride, hotdogs, potato chips, drink and candy.

The Prairie's End Pumpkin Patch is having a food drive.

Sunday, October 26th, bring three cans of food or non-perishable food items per person to the Pumpkin Patch.Bring three non expired items per  person and get in free at the Papa’s Pumpkin Patch at 4610 Forest Park Road.  All food items will be donated to the food pantry at the Parkview Christian Church.

The first rehearsal of the community chorus for the annual performance of Handel’s Messiah will be Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. 

The rehearsal will be held at the First Baptist Church, 200 East 6th.  All vocalists are invited.  The Messiah, sponsored by the Sedalia Symphony Society and directed by Mrs Sandy Cordes, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 at the First Baptist Church.  The performance is free of charge.  For more information, call 826-5072 or 826-7506.

The Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra will begin its 52nd Concert Season Sunday, October 26, under the baton of conductor, Kevin Lines.  

The concert will be held in the Harold L. Lickey Auditorium of Bueker Middle School in Marshall and will begin at 2:30 p.m.  This concert will feature Kristee Haney, mezzo-soprano, currently on staff as Assistant Professor of Voice and Musical Theater at the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg.  The Marshall Philharmonic is honored to musically offer the community the “best of many worlds”:  amateur/professional, working/retired, young/old.  It is this special blending and the wonderful support of the community that makes the organization thrive.  Please join the Philharmonic in enjoying, promoting, and supporting this hometown orchestra in its 52nd season.
