Here's a look at some of the events going on in our area this weekend!

There will be a Karaoke Contest for Warsaw’s Jubilee Days.

Contest finals are Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. at the Warsaw Community Center.  You must pre-qualify and contestants must be age 18 or older.   To pre-qualify, attend one of these singing nights:  Wednesdays at the Eagles Lodge in Clinton, 7:00 p.m., Fridays at The Valley in Warsaw, 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at Lincoln Inn in Lincoln, 9:00 p.m., Sundays starting May 4 at Red Baron in Cole Camp, 4:00 p.m..  Call 816-896-5550 for details, or find Debs KrazyKaraoke on Facebook.

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families are having a Toiletry Drive and a Non Perishable Food Drive. 

Missouri’s veterans need your support in meeting everyday needs.  They need: toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body soap, disposable razors, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream, baby wipes, and chapstick.  The drop off location for these items will be the Sedalia Family Resource Center at 505 South Kentucky, Suite A. The SSVF will also have a food drive.  Non perishable food like canned or boxed items, beans, spaghetti, rice, vegetables and pasta can be dropped off at the Bi-Lo Grocery Store and the Dollar General in Warrensburg.  The items will be distributed at the SSVF Veteran Health Fair on June 20.  For further information, call 660-886-7476 ext 853.

EpiCenter is meeting on Friday, May 30.  

There will be an EpiCenter meeting in May on Friday, the 30th. The event is from 6pm to 8pm  and is for youth 10 years and older.  A free dinner and games are provided during EpiCenter events.

The Sedalia Shrine Club will host a breakfast. 

It’ll take place on May 31 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine Club, 1615 Elm Hills Blvd. They’ll serve Bloody Marys, scrambled eggs, ham steak, biscuits and gravy for $8 a plate.

The Sedalia Clean Sweet will be on Saturday, May 31.

Volunteers will check in at 901 East 3rd, the City Garage, at 8:30 a.m.  Volunteers are needed for this important neighborhood event.  Supplies will be available, and lunch will be served.  Earn community service hours.  For more information, contact Jamie Bethel with the City of Sedalia at 827-3000 ext 139 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or email jbethel@cityofsedalia.com

The Girl Scouts of Sedalia are working to earn their Silver Award.

They will be hosting a pet adoption with the Humane Society on Saturday, May 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Park.

Scramble for Freedom Golf Tournament on June 1, sponsored by the West Central Missouri Veterans Assistance League.

Proceeds will enhance the lives of the 200 veterans who live at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at Royal Oaks Golf Course. Lunch will follow and a shot gun start will be at 1 p.m. Hole and golf cart sponsorships are also needed. The St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Cole camp will have a fish fry and turkey dinner.

It’ll take place on Sunday, June 1, with serving time from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The proceeds from the event will go towards fighting world hunger.  The church is located at 205 West Jefferson street in Cole Camp.
