There will be a meeting of the Sedalia Stroke Survivors.

Sedalia Stroke Survivors support group provides the opportunity for learning and teaching about the causes, physical and psychological effects and the prevention of stroke. The group brings together people who have had a stroke and their families, friends and caregivers for mutual help and support, and allows them to express their achievements, frustrations and difficulties. Sedalia Stroke Survivors also serves the community and surrounding areas as a resource of information and encouragement.  The group meets from 11 a.m. to noon the first Friday of each month in the Bothwell Education Center. There will be a Karaoke Contest for Warsaw’s Jubilee Days.

Contest finals are Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. at the Warsaw Community Center. You must pre-qualify and contestants must be age 18 or older.  Call 816-896-5550 for details, or find Debs KrazyKaraoke on Facebook.

The Relay for Life Fundraiser will begin Friday, June 6.

Each lap gets us closer to a world with more birthdays.Join the fight with the Relay for Life of Pettis County, June 6 at 6:00 p.m. to June 7 at 6:00 a.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3700 West Broadway. Contact us for more information at 800-635-9194.

The Shrine Club of Sedalia will have their monthly breakfast.

It’s open to the public and held at 1375 Elm Hills blvd. It’ll happen on Saturday, June 7 from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. They’ll serve eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, juice, milk or coffee for $6. For to go orders, call 660-281-3619 or 826-6171

There will be an all you can eat breakfast fundraiser benefiting the local Alzheimer’s Association.

It’ll be held on Saturday June 7th, 2014 from 7:30-10:00 AM at the Parkhurst Commons of the State Fair Community College. Children 7 and below $5, Adults 8+ $10. The menu will consist of: Pancakes, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Biscuits and Gravy, Fruit, Apple and Orange Juice, Coffee, and Sugar Free Syrup will be available. The City Wide Green Ridge Garage Sale is coming up June 7.
There will be a city wide garage sale on June 7 at various locations in Green Ridge. Cruise the streets to find them. Sponsored by the Green Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

The Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce will host a car show on Saturday, June 7.

It’ll be held on South Maple Street in downtown Cole Camp. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $15 registration fee includes a t-shirt. The Liberty Center Association of the Arts and the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation is partnering on a new event where ragtime enthusiasts can bid on a catered lunch with their favorite ragtime performer.

The luncheons will be auctioned during the Scott Joplin Festival. Local celebrity chefs will prepare a boxed lunch which is paired with four ragtime performers who will dine with the winning bidder on Saturday, June 7 at the Liberty Center. Celebrity chefs include:
Nina Freed is preparing lunch for the winning bidder who will dine with performer Brian Wright and his wife, Yuko who live in Virginia.  Chelsea Kehde is preparing lunch for the winning bidder who will dine with performers, Jeff and Ann Barnhart from Connecticut.
Anne Gardner and Margaret Ward is preparing lunch for the winning bidder who will dine with performer Brian Holland of Texas. Debbie Mitchell is preparing lunch for the winning bidder who will dine with performer Frederick Hodges from California.  “We are very excited to work with the Scott Joplin Foundation to offer an opportunity for festival goers to have one on one time with the performers,” said Terri Ballard, of the Liberty Center. Proceeds will be split between the Liberty Center and the Joplin Foundation. The center will be closed to the public so the auction winners and the performers can enjoy a private lunch. The lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday.

Calvary Episcopal Church at Broadway and Ohio is hosting “Best Ever, Best Yet”.

It will feature performances of Scott Joplin’s rags by viola, piano and pipe organ, along with a champion whistler, and featuring Jefferson City soprano Lacey Williams. The event will take place on Saturday, June 7 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with no admission charge. Luncheon will be served after the concert featuring home made chicken salad sandwiches, fresh fruit, desserts and drinks for $8.

The Mike Burkhalter Memorial Truck and Tractor pull will be on Saturday, June 7.

The 25th annual Sanctioned Truck and Tractor Pull (MSTPA and MMTTPA rules apply) will begin at 7:00 p.m. The gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the pit area opens at 2:30 p.m. The cost for general admission is $12, pit admission is $15, kids 6-10 are $5 and under 6 years of age get in free. The ticket booth will be open at 5:00 p.m. the day of the event. This is a charity event and all proceeds will benefit the Sedalia Area Dream Factory, and the children they serve. There will be a dance at the California Senior Center, 107 West Versailles Avenue in California.

This country and western dance will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. on June 7. Bring a finger food to pass. The cost of admission is $5, which pays for the band and helps the Senior Center. The Country Ordaras, the same band from the Missouri State Fair Senior Dance Contest, will be performing.

The Quinn Chapel Church will celebrate their 127th Anniversary on June 8.

Their morning speaker will be the Minister Joyce Foster, speaking at 11:00 a.m. The guest speaker will be former Sedalian the Reverend Cynthia Wright Fulks of Kansas City Kansas, at 3:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s celebration is “We’re Still Here”. Join Camp Sacajawea for an Open House.

It’ll take place on June 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. They’ll have tours of the camp and make smores around our camp fire ring. They’ll be accepting free will donations that day, and the funds go toward operating costs to help keep the camp open for our girls. For information, email friendsofcampsacajawea@yahoo.com

The Trinity Pyrmont Lutheran Church will have their annual Ice Cream Social.

It’ll be held on Sunday evening, June 8, beginning at 5:00 p.m. They’ll have sandwhiches, hot dogs, pie, cake and ice cream served for a free will offering. The proceeds will benefit the Food Pantries of Ivy Bend, Stover, and Cole Camp. There will be a silent auction, drawings and entertainment from Remedy 4 Redemption.
