Here's a look at some of the local events going on in our area this weekend. Smithton Class of 1988 Class Reunion will begin on Friday, January 24.

The reunion events include a January 24th Homecoming at Smithton School.The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and the entire family is invited.  On January 25th there will be a special reception at Hotel Bothwell Basement Banquet Room for Classmates & Guests.  The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with a  Social Hour til 7:00 p.m., when dinner will be served.  For more information and to RSVP contact Shelly Kempton at 660-826-5165 or Becky Shull 660-826-3184

The Salvation Army of Sedalia is hosting a youth night on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  

Youth aged 10 years and older are invited to a night of games and pizza. There is no admission charge for youth attendees.  Call 660-826-1525 for more information.
The Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a painting instruction party.

It will take place on  January 24th – 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce,600 East 3rd Street, Sedalia.  A Limited Seating Event!!!  You will be able to take your 12” x 16” painting home with you!  Painting instructions, food, beverages, beer are included in the ticket price.  Wine tasting will be available through Wildlife Ridge Winery.  Wine by the glass or bottle may be purchased.  Paint the Town from Columbia, Missouri will provide all the instructions necessary to complete your painting. Osage Beach, Missouri is the site of the 31st annual Mid-Missouri Antique Beer Can and Breweriana Show on January 25, 2014.

The show will be held in the convention facilities inside the Inn at Grand Glaize from 9:00am to 1:30 pm. The event is open to the public with no admission fee and plenty of free parking.  The gateway Chapter in St. Louis and KC’s Best Chapter in Kansas City are co-sponsors of the show. Both chapters are a part of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America (BCCA). The BCCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the historical preservation of America’s brewing heritage and brewery related collectibles for edicational purposes. There are over 100 chapters of the BCCA in America and abroad. There are more than 3,500 members in the BCCA.  Originally founded as the Beer Can Collectors of America, the organization has evolved into a repository of historical information for all things related to brewing such as containers, signs, coasters, trays, etc. with a focus on the beer can. The Central Missouri Agriculture Club will have their Pie Contest, Auction, and Banquet on January 25.

It’ll take place at the Pork Place at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.  The pie contest will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the social hour will be at 6:00 p.m.  The meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and the auction will follow.  Make your plans to attend for a cost of $15 for adults, and children aged 7-15 are a cost of $13.  All monies raised promotes keeping youth in agriculture through 4-H, FFA, and scholarships.

There will be a dance at the Clinton Senior center.

It'll take place from 7:00 P.M. TO 10:00 P.M.  This is open to the public.  There is a small donation requested to offset costs.  All are asked to bring finger foods.  The band will be "The Country Ordaras".

The Trinity Lutheran School in Alma will host a Pancake Supper.

It’ll be held on Sunday, January 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  They’ll have pancakes, sausage, and coffee.  The cost is a freewill donation and the money will go to Philippines disaster relief, Share the Harvest, and the House of Hope.  This is sponsored by the Trinity Lutheran’s Men’s Club.
