While most of us will be at home with our families this weekend, there are few recurring activities to pique your interest and charitable causes that still need help.

The Amigos De Cristo are having a teen mom program for ages 19 and under.
The 20 week program will teach techniques to provide the best outcome and support for the parent and baby’s future.  Topics include applying for assistance, self esteem building, relaxation techniques, budgeting and finances, proper nutrition in pregnancy, signs of true labor, relaxing during active labor, infant massage and childcare, breast and bottle feeding, car seat training, infant and newborn bathing, baby CPR and more. Contact the Rev Manny Rodriquez to sign up or get more information at mrmanny1@sbcglobal.net or call the church at 826-2788.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is hoping area community members and business leaders will “SAY Yes” this holiday season to positively impact the life of a child.

From now until the end of February, the Club is hosting a special scholarship drive through its Sponsor A Youth (SAY) Yes Fund. All monies donated to this fund go directly to providing scholarships for area youth to attend the Club.  The Club’s philosophy is that any child, no matter their family’s financial circumstance, can attend the hands-on enriched programming offered to more than 1,300 youth in the West Central Missouri area. During the 2013-2014 school year 450 members were on some sort of financial aid or scholarship, much of it coming directly from the SAY Yes Fund.  Whether it’s $5 or $5,000 all donations to the SAY Yes Fund go directly to improving the lives of area youth. Financial contributions are tax-deductible and can be set up on a one-time, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. For more information contact Director of Development Melissa Boeschen at 660-826-8331.

The Knights of Columbus Council #831 would like you to mark your calendar for the 2nd Wednesday of every month to join them for their Family Night Buffet.
Chief Mike Hawk, formerly of Mike’s Family Restaurant, and his fellow Knights will serve up favorites like deep fried catfish, roast pork, barbecued beef, honey ham, and lasagna, with sides.  Drink and dessert are included for a cost of $7 for adults and $4 for kids aged 6-12.  The meal is served from 4-7 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Knights Hall, on the corner of Elm Hills Blvd and South Highway 65.

Have a great weekend!
