Here's a look at some of the events going on in our area this weekend! 

Sedalia's Downtown Criterium Race will be held this Saturday.

This weekend is the Criterium Bike Race in historic Downtown Sedalia. The high speed downtown bicycle race has had as many as 200 entries in the past and takes place this Saturday on a 0.7 mile course. There are several different age groups racers can participate in, and registration begins at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Courthouse downtown. The first race begins at 4:00 p.m. and races continue throughout the evening. You can check out a complete schedule here.

The 7C’s Mead Fest will be on August 25 at the 7C’s Winery.

They will have live music by Rowan’s Crossing, a costume contest, free wine and mead tasting, and demonstrations by the SCA/Shire of Oakheart.  Also appearing will be Gypsy Sol and Project Vagabound, Birds of Prey with Dickenson Park Zoo, and Ozark Beekeepers.  Turkey Legs and barbecue will be available from Smokeshack BBQ.  The address of the Winery is 502 E 560th Road, Walnut Grove.  Call 417-788-2263 for more information or go to www.7cswinery.com

There will be an Ice Cream Social held by the American Legion Post 305.

It’ll be held on Sunday, August 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m at the American Legion of Cole Camp.  The cost is a freewill donation.   They will have ice cream, pie, cake and chili dogs.  They’ll have a retirement of flags at 7:00 p.m.  Bring your flags to be retired, and they will collect them for the ceremony.  All proceeds will go toward operating funds for the American Legion Post 305.

Preparing for a Genealogical Research Trip will be the subject of the meeting of the West Central Missouri Genealogical Society and Library on August 26. 

The topic will be presented by Betty Harvey Williams.  Church records will be discussed.  The meeting will be held at the Church of Christ, 722 South Maguire street in Warrensburg.  Refreshments will be served at 7:00 p.m. and the program will be at 7:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.

The community is invited to commemorate their loved ones who have died during a community memorial service hosted by Bothwell Hospice.

The 18th annual Community Memorial Service, themed “A Time to Remember,” is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, at Christ & Trinity Lutheran Church,3201 Southwest Blvd.,Sedalia.  The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact Tammy Goehman at 660-829-2700.
