Sedalia’s Local Events – Weekend of April 11
Here's a look at some of our local events going on this weekend.
The Senior Parents are selling tickets to the Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Frys.
The dates of the event are March 14, March 28, and April 11. Tickets are only $9.50/adult and $5.00/children ages 5-10. Kids under 5 eat free with a paid adult! The menu includes deep fried and baked fish, fried potato chips and wedges, mac & cheese, green beans, baked beans, coleslaw, and cornbread! Homemade desserts are available for donation! Tickets available at Sacred Heart School and Church Rectory.
The Sedalia Kiwanis Club is hosting Card Night.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at at the Sedalia Senior Center, 312 S. Washington and it will be start at 3:00 pm. If you have any questions about this change, please contact Ann Dove at 660-527-3940.
There will be a fundraising event for the Walk MS 5k run/walk on April 12.
A spring shopping event will be held on April 12 at the Convention Hall from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Proceeds from the silent auction and the entry fee will go towards Walk MS, which benefits research, awareness, treatments and a cure. The Sedalia Parks and Rec annual Easter Egg Hunt at Liberty Park Saturday, April 12, 2014.
The horn will sound at 10:00 a.m. sharp, so don’t be late! The event is for children up to age 10. Look for designated areas for each age group. Up to 2 years: South of main drive; closest to Convention Hall. Ages 3-4: South of main drive; middle group. Ages 5-7: South of main drive; closest to main entrance. Ages 8-10: Shelter #3 area. Don’t forget to bring a basket for your eggs! After the Egg Hunt, join us for pictures with the Easter Bunny (so don’t forget to bring your camera!). Rain date is April 19.
The Golden Circle Horse Show Circuit will be having seven shows this year with three being held in Sedalia, and four being held at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
The objectives of the show are to encourage good sportsmanship and proper conduct among horsemen and to foster good fellowship of all persons interested in saddle horses, to promote the education in the care, use, handling and development of horses and horsemanship, to create, stimulate and maintain interest in saddle horses and horseback riding in communities in the Golden Circle area and to encourage proper and humane handling and care of horses, to prevent cruelty to animals. This will take place on Saturday, April 12 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Coliseum of the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Visit their website for more information.
There will be a small bird and animal swap.
This event will be held Burg Dog Antiques.Burg Dog Antiques at 11 SE 500 Rd in Warrensburg is hosting a Small Animal & Bird Swap on April 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Vendors $5 (please register ahead of time). Shoppers/lookers free. For more information, email burgdogantiques@gmail.com
The Punchline Players of State Fair Community College will present the first of two spring improv comedy shows at 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre in Yeater Learning Center, Room 126, on the Sedalia campus.
The shows are free; no tickets are required. Shows are for mature audiences only. The comics, comprised of current students and alumni, are at the mercy of the audience as they perform short scenes in the style of the television show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The group, formerly part of the college’s Theatre Arts program, is now a student club. The Punchline Players will perform again May 10.
