The final concert of the Sedalia Symphony Society's 83rd season will be at 7:30 p.m. April 16 at the Heckart Performing Arts Center at Smith-Cotton High School.

"It's going to be a wonderful program. Gwen Kappelman has done so well with the orchestra, it's never sounded better," said Byron Matson with the Sedalia Symphony Society.

The concert will include all types of music, ranging from classical music to selections from The Sound of Music and even Star Trek. "That's what makes our symphony spectacular," said Matson. "It's not an all-symphonic, classical music program. We do some of the Pops, some of the popular, some of the things that people enjoy and have it all in one concert."

Soprano Candy Edwards will appear as a special guest with the orchestra, and the concert will include performances by the three graduating seniors selected by audition to receive $1000 scholarships to continue their music education.

Tickets to the April 16 concert are $10 and will be available at the door. Students K-12 and students with college ID are admitted free.
