An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning in regards to the shooting death of a 21-year old Sedalia woman that occurred on Oak Grove Lane.

Early Wednesday morning (Jan 10), Pettis County Sheriff’s Detectives and Pettis County Coroner Robert "Skip" Smith were conducting an investigation surrounding the death of a Sedalia woman that occurred at a residence just north of the city's western limits.

According to a press release from the Pettis County Sheriff's Department, around 8:30 Tuesday evening (Jan 9), deputies were dispatched to a report of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of the Western View Estates Trailer Park on Oak Grove Lane. Deputies arrived and checked the area but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

About 2 hours later, a call was received of a person with gunshot wounds at a residence in the trailer park. Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Pettis County Ambulance District and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper. The victim was later identified as 21-year old Cassandra L. White, of Sedalia, who lived at the residence. White's two children, an infant and toddler, were also at the residence when the shooting occurred. According to the press release, neither of the children were injured.

Investigators followed up on leads in the case and deputies returned to the scene late Wednesday afternoon to complete processing the crime scene.

An autopsy of White has been scheduled for Thursday (Jan 11), by the Boone County Medical Examiner.

No suspects have been named in the case. Anyone with information regarding the shooting, is urged to call the Pettis County Crime Stoppers at 660-827-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to arrest.
