It's a different world than it was just ten years ago. We used to watch movies like "The Net" and think.... that could never happen.

OH, IT'S HAPPENING, ALRIGHT. And apparently we are pretty freaked out by it. Identity theft is pretty high on the list of things Americans are scared of: 19.6% said they're VERY afraid of it happening to them.

You gotta be careful with this stuff! Anyway, here's what you need to know, and don't blow it off! The site is called Family Tree Now, and they boast the largest collection of genealogy records anywhere, and they’re all 100% free to search. Now here’s the issue, apparently they have all your information, and it’s all there for anyone to view.

I looked at it, and I saw my name, my sister's first married name, my cousins, seven old addresses, tons of stuff. It was a little neat at first ("Oh, I forgot about Market street..."), but then I realized that anybody could take that information and bilk me by trying to fill out credit card applications or something.

So, if you have checked out this site and your personal information is there, do yourself and your family a big favor, and opt out now. Unfortunately, it may take up to 48 hours for your info to be deleted off the site.

Here’s what you need to do to opt out:
Visit https://www.familytreenow.com/optout follow the four steps, and then click through to begin the opt out process.
After getting yourself safe, make sure you share this page with everyone you know and care about.

Stay safe online, guys!

Webly yours,
Behka
