A 26-year-old Sedalia man was arrested after a police chase that ended on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Police say the driver of a Chevy Trailblazer that had been stopped around 7:19 p.m. on July 4 for an expired temporary tag at 20th and Warren provided false identification.

When he was positively identified, police discovered that his license was revoked and asked him to step out of the vehicle. He then allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed and entered the Fairgrounds, where thousands of people were gathering to watch a fireworks display.

Ahmad J. Dupree was arrested on charges including driving while suspended, identity theft, careless driving, misdemeanor fourth degree assault and resisting arrest. Dupree was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending the filing of state charges.
