The Sedalia Fire Department has been operating at the Sedalia Fire Department Headquarters on 16th Street since January, but they officially held their ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday (July 20).

This project has been six years in the making, since the idea of a new firehouse came out in 2008.

Hundreds of people gathered around the Sedalia Fire Department on 16th Street from 1-4pm. Sedalia Fire Department Chief, Mike Ditzfeld and Deputy Fire Chief Greg Harrell thanked everyone for coming out and continued to remind people that they are appreciative of having this building and consider themselves good stewards of community tax money to keep up and maintain the new building and other locations around Sedalia.

Sedalia Mayor Stephen Galliher thanked all the city council past and present that were involved in this project and also former Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn and city administrator Gary Edwards for working on this project and getting it completed.
