In 1964, on this day in rock history, the Beatles met Bob Dylan, who introduced them to his friend Mary Jane. That's right, the Fab Four got high for the first time. While John Lennon admits, “I don’t remember much what we talked about," Paul McCartney said the experience made him feel as though he was “thinking for the first time."

Just one year later, Dylan made another historic introduction. Barely a month after his controversial Newport Folk Festival appearance, he again challenged a live audience with his new electric sound – and this time with a backing group that for the first time featured Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm of the Band. Unfortunately, they were all rewarded with an even more violent reaction this time out.

On this day in 1975, Steven Tyler taught Aerosmith fans how to "Walk This Way." On Aug. 28, 1993, Bruce Dickinson played his "final" show with Iron Maiden, complete with a staged beheading. He pursued a solo career for six years until returning to the group in 1999.
