Sacred Heart High School is proud to present its production of the zany musical Once Upon a Mattress. The show will run at 7:30 p.m. on March 17 and 18, 2017 at Smith-Cotton Junior High School, 312 East Broadway. Tickets are $5.00 per seat and are available in the school office now.

A hilariously nutty retelling of “The Princess and the Pea,” Once Upon a Mattress is filled with tuneful songs, and hilarious shenanigans. If you think you know the classic fairy tale, you might be in for a surprise! This raucous, romantic, and melodic spin on a familiar classic fairy tale is recommended for all ages.

Once Upon a Mattress marked the Broadway debut of legendary stage and TV personality Carol Burnett in the lead role of Princess Winnifred the Woebegone. The Tony Award nominated musical features a score by Mary Rodgers (the daughter of the legendary Broadway composer Richard Rodgers), with lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer.

The SHHS production features stage direction by Mrs. Jan Bahner and music direction by Mr. Darrin Hartman. Ms. Ariel Starke is the choreographer. Set design is by Drama class students Abby Smeltzer and Emma Wilhelm.
