Memory Lane Foundation for Suicide Prevention has now recruited the help of two clinicians for its monthly meetings.

Amanda Eisenbarth, Founder of Memory Lane Foundation, reminds everyone that May is Mental Health Awareness Month and introduces two new support group leaders who are extensively trained in the mental health profession.

Gail Baker, who has an MS in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Psychology Research now leads the Monday evening group meetings from 6:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. One is for adolescents ages 17 and under and the other is an adult group. Both group meetings focus on depression and suicidal thoughts.

According to Gail, mental health awareness still has a certain stigma attached to it, but it is getting better as time moves along. One of the most important things to remember, Gail explains, is that people with mental illnesses are not bad people and are capable of being productive members of society.

Anna Cox has a Master of the Arts in Community Counseling and is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor in the area. She’s currently working under Gail Baker and with Memory Lane Foundation as part of the education process to earn a license. She leads support groups for Memory Lane the first and third Saturdays of the month, starting  at 9:00 a.m..

Anna is proud to be able to work with Memory Lane Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  She says she always walks away feeling positive and proud that she has gotten to work with families and children.

Memory Lane Foundations hosts its meetings on Monday nights (except for the fifth Monday of the month) from 6:15 to 7:15 and on the first and third Saturdays of the month, starting at 9:00 a.m., at 420 West 16th Street. The public is invited and the meetings are free to attend.
