The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says a man was arrested on July 8 for threatening a woman with a machete.

Deputies responded to the 4200 block of W. Main for a physical disturbance involving a large knife. Contact was made with the victim, who said that her husband had left prior to the arrival of deputies, and that he had been drinking all day. During an investigation, deputies discovered that the large knife was actually a machete.

The suspect then drove past the deputies and was stopped about a block from the scene. Julio Cesar Valencia was taken into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold for second degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and DWI.
