No matter how many insults are hurled, there's no breaking their brotherly bond. Liam Gallagher revealed, once again, that he still loves his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher, and would like to reconcile with him for Christmas.

Of course, he sometimes has a funny way of showing it, expressing it as only he can — laced with profanity and wrapped in taunts and gibes. In a recent interview with the Evening Standard, Liam, who has famously claimed his brother looks like a potato, said, "I want Our Kid to come to his f---ing senses. It’s in him, innit? That’s what I want for Christmas. Maybe a couple of s--- review and poor album sales, he’ll soon come round, won’t he? Listen, I enjoy the banter. But I’m f---ing arsed about reforming Oasis. I’m quite happy doing this. Just him coming to his senses. He used to be funny but now he’s just … not bitter. Just a bit mean-spirited."

This should come as no surprise. Last year, he offered up the same Christmas wish, couched in the same reproach. "Obviously [our mum would] like us to be chatting, sit around the table at Christmas," he said at the time. "But it’s a stupid standoff, and we should know better, as we have kids. It would be nice for me and [Noel] to get back together as brothers. But it’s good, the standoff. I’m enjoying it. I ain’t backing down. He ain’t backing down."

Just a couple of months ago, Liam spoke of his pain regarding the breakup of Oasis, saying he won't ever get over it. And Noel showed he can laugh at himself this week when, in an advertisement for his recently released album Who Built the Moon? with his band High Flying Birds, he included a snippet of one of its most scathing reviews alongside several singing its praises. The Irish Times' headline called the work "a dried up oasis of dross."

But Liam, who recently put out his first solo album As You Were, isn't having it. “It’s ridiculous,” Liam said of his brother's recent interviews. “He’s embarrassing, that c---, the s--- that’s coming out of his mouth at the moment. He needs to have a long holiday with Bono.

“Yeah, I love him, man. He’s my brother at the end of the day. He’s just a bit f---ing snobby," he continued. "A bit pompous. A bit like … some of these c---s here. Though I’m sure they’re all nice people ..."

Noel, for his part, believes that his brother's repeated attempts at reaching out in the press are his way of trying to win in the court of public opinion. "He knows for a fact that Oasis are not getting back together," he said last month. "That gives him immunity to play the victim card to Oasis fans, which I don’t care about. 'I would do it for you guys, but it’s him,' that kinda thing. Maybe one day I’ll call his bluff and see the color drain out of his f---ing face. He knows it’s not going to happen and he tends to play to the gallery a little bit, all the 15 year olds who had never seen us."
