Kelly Clarkson has signed on for a film that will embrace individuality. The pop/sometimes country singer will participate in UglyDolls, doing the voiceover for a character named Moxy, according to Variety.

The movie is an extension of the popular toy brand of plush anime-style dolls that flip the idea of "ugly" on its head, using it as a term that stands for special and unique and a way to celebrate differences. UglyDolls is being produced by STX Entertainment in partnership with Hasbro.

Clarkson became involved with the film after seeing the character and set designs and the artistic vision. The film takes Clarkson's character Moxy and friends named Wage, Babo, Ice-Bat, and Wedgehead on a journey of self-discovery as they navigate the struggles of feeling different and unloved.

“The UglyDolls’ universal message celebrating our differences and individuality really resonates with me, and when STX showed me how incredible ‘UglyDolls’ will look and feel, I jumped at being part of that world," Clarkson says in a press release. "I can’t wait to start working with the team at STX, the cast and filmmakers."

She'll also sing original songs created for the movie, which also stars Pitbull. It's set for release in 2019.

The role is a natural fit for Clarkson, who is ever-vocal about being body-positive and rejecting the unrealistic standards women face when it comes to physical appearance. "If you gauge your life on what other people think, you’re going to be in a constant state of panic trying to please everyone. People should just concentrate on their own lives and their own health and their own happiness, and whatever that looks like for you, be happy with it," she tells Redbook.

The superstar singer will return to the judging panel for Season 15 of The Voice in fall of 2018.
