As a part of Political and Social Justice Week, the University of Central Missouri will present the New York City-based singer-songwriter and activist Jen Chapin as a guest artist for a two-day residency.

Jen will perform tunes from her amazing and highly acclaimed new album (they were nice enough to send me a copy - it really is fantastic) at the University of Central Missouri's Hendricks Hall on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.   During her two-day stay at UCM as guest artist in residence, Chapin also will speak to UCM students in an American government class on the topic of food justice, and conduct a lyric songwriting workshop at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the UCM Gallery of Art and Design, 217 E. Clark St. Members of her band will conduct a music master class at 3 p.m. April 2 in Hart Recital Hall. Both the workshop and master class are free and open to students and the public.

I was lucky enough to get to talk to Jen on the phone recently, and she told me all about the workshop, the master class, her new album, and the problem of hunger that means so much.

Tickets for the April 1 performance are available from the Central Tickets in Administration 100, online at ucmpas.com, or by calling 660-543-8888. Tickets for the concert(includes workshops and lectures) are $10-$20.00. Visit the UCM website for more details!

Musically yours,
Behka
