According to a new survey by a British cosmetics company, the average woman spends 474 entire days of her life putting on makeup.  That's more than one year and three months.  The average woman spends three hours and 19 minutes putting on makeup in a week, or an average of over 28 minutes a day.  WHAT ON EARTH.  Why so much time?  I mean, I guess I just don't think about it.

According to a new survey by a British cosmetics company, the average woman spends 474 entire days of her life putting on makeup.  That's more than one year and three months.

Breaking it down, the average woman spends three hours and 19 minutes putting on makeup in a week . . . or an average of over 28 minutes a day.

That comes out to about 172 hours of makeup time per year.  Over an average of 66 years of putting on makeup, that works out to 474 days.

93% of the women in the survey said even after hearing how much time they're spending putting on makeup, there's STILL no chance they'd give it up completely.

I'm not so sure these numbers are right.  Maybe a half an hour a day isn't that crazy, but it might also be a little inflated because this came from a COSMETICS COMPANY.  Maybe they're stretching the numbers to make themselves seem more vital, and therefore, make more of the almighty dolllar/euro (or is it pound again, after Brexit?).

I did a little calculating of my own: I wear mascara, sometimes eyeliner, and powder foundation every day.  That's it.  All told, my whole morning routine to get up and then out the door literally takes ten minutes (I shower and pick out my clothes the night before, so as not to wake Husbando when I get up at 4:00 a.m.).  So if I'm being generous, that's probably five minutes a day on makeup (realistically probably more like three).

I wear makeup Monday through Friday, most days, unless I'm feeling really sick or something.  I'll wear makeup on a Saturday if we're going out or if I'm doing a live broadcast or something.  So let's say five days a week.

5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, that's 25 minutes.  That's 100 minutes a month, 1200 minutes a year. So that's 20 hours.  If I started wearing makeup when I was 12 (which I THINK is right), and I'm 37 now,  that's 500 hours my whole life.  It's a little over two weeks.   That's nowhere near 474 days!  Maybe I'm weird, who knows.

Ladies, does this sound right to you?  Still, if you're doing something because it makes YOU feel good, does it matter how long it takes?  As long as you're doing it to please yourself and not someone else, I don't think it matters that much.  Ladies, if you do or don't wanna wear makeup, you don't need permission and you know it.  YOU DO YOU.

Makingly yours,
Behka
