High School Equivalency and General Educational Development are now one and the same. GEDs started out in wartime, when soldiers would hurry to serve, and either want to get out of school earlier to go overseas, or go overseas without finishing high school and graduate when they came back. These days, they're still called GEDs, but the technical term for is is High School Equivalency.

There are a ton of reasons that someone might not have finished school; maybe they wanted to go to vocational school and learn a trade, maybe they had to get a job, maybe they got sick, maybe they got in some trouble, maybe a disability interfered,  there are a million reasons why. And it can be intimidating to try to go back and get that certificate.  But now, SFCC is making it a little easier for you to finally get it done.

Registration will be held Jan. 2-5 for the next High School Equivalency (HSE) classes to be held on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus and at sites in Appleton City, Boonville, Clinton, Richmond, Osceola, Warrensburg, Warsaw, and Windsor. The times for each are a little different, so just reach to your location for more information.

Enrollment for HSE day class will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 2-5, and enrollment for HSE night class will be held from 6-9 p.m.  Jan. 2-3 in Yeater Learning Center, Room 163, on the Sedalia campus. The best part? It's free! HSE classes are free, but students must enroll in person and complete an orientation before attending class.

So, quit putting it off and just get it DONE. You'll have all the support and guidance you need with the fine folks at SFCC!

Learningly yours,
Behka
