Every year, thousands of people flock to our little town for some fun at the Missouri State Fair.  And, you get all kind of people..... with all kinds of kinds.

We have a little outpost at the Fair every year, and people always come by to play our games and try to win some prizes. It's all in good fun.  But over the course of ten days with tons of people all around... some crazy stuff is just GOING to go down. Here are some things I saw this year.

1. The Hair Fire.

It was probably about four days in, it was after some rain. Derrick and I were at the outpost, and it seemed like everything was normal. Then, the light pole that was right across the street from us, above the caricature guy, shot out sparks! Electricity and water certainly don't mix, so that was scary! But then, one of the sparks landed on a nice lady's hair and it started burning. Luckily it was out in just a moment, but that had to have been super freaky for her.  Fair officials and fire departments came out and inspected everything to make sure it was safe. Didn't stop anybody from getting their corn dogs, though.

2. The Chicken Hat.

I wanna say this was the last day I was on the grounds. I was just there trying to stand under the canopy so I could stay in the shade, when I saw him. It was just a regular dude, t-shirt and shorts, sneakers,.... and a hat. It was a hat that looked exactly like a chicken. Just a chicken sitting on his head, no big deal. That's totally normal, right? I totally thought it was a real, live chicken for a good few minutes. I wish I had gotten a picture, but I felt like that might be rude. I didn't want to anger chicken man.

3.  The Tough Girl.

I didn't see this one personally, but Husbando and the girls did. They were there on the grounds to enjoy some rides and food and whatnot and came by the outpost on the day that the Marines joined us.  Every year the Marines bring out their pull up bar and challenge people to see how many they can do. Husbando and the girls saw a little girl, maybe four years old, give it a try. She did at least twenty pull ups!! I could hardly believe it, but they swore it was true. I like to think that little girl's name is Diana Prince.

4.  The Cart Ladies.

This one wasn't so crazy crazy, but it sure was funny. We played a bunch of different games at the outpost, and sometimes we'd take a break from one game to play another. We'd decided to switch from bag toss to some light trivia. Derrick was asking someone a multiple choice trivia question, and one of the answers he gave for options was about the sport of curling. Well, as he was reading it, a lady drove up on her motorized cart, walked up to us, and loudly proclaimed, "CURLING IS BULLS**T!"  I didn't know how to react. I thought to myself, "Is this real life?".  But yes, it was. They were just out having a good time, and didn't mean anybody any harm or anything. They just had very strong opinions about curling.

Did you see anything crazy or funny at this year's fair? Tell me all about it and let's have a laugh! Maybe we'll hear from someone and get a follow up on that chicken hat.

Fairly yours,
Behka
