If the opening credits to Showtime's new series, 'The Affair,' strangely transport you back to 1997, there's a good reason for that: Fiona Apple wrote the title song.

It's called 'Container,' and it was previously unreleased before Showtime came calling. "Fiona Apple has been my favorite songwriter since I was 16," said the show's creator, Sarah Treem, in a statement. "I am honored and humbled that she has chosen to lend her talent to our opening title sequence. If our show can approach one tenth of the depth and complexity of her song, I'll be very happy.”

'The Affair,' which premieres Oct. 12, follows the fallout that comes after an extramarital affair between its two stars, Dominic West and Ruth Wilson. Check out the opening with Apple's song below:
