The University of Central Missouri’s Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport will host the Skyhaven Airport Community Air Show Saturday, Sept. 7.

The event will offer the public an opportunity to tour the airport facilities, take aircraft rides, see WWII and modern aircraft, and experience a variety of activities related to aviation. The air show gates will open at 9 a.m. with the scheduled performances beginning at noon and running through 4 p.m.

The Air Show also will feature a reunion of UCM aviation alumni and former faculty, with the Department of Aviation honoring veteran UCM aviation faculty member Fred Schiezer. All UCM aviation alumni are invited to attend the air show and renew acquaintances.

A second highlight of the airshow will be Erik Edgren’s comedy airshow performance. Edgren has worked as a flight instructor and instructor/pilot for an air combat school in the AT-6/SNJ, and as a corporate pilot in the Lear jets and King Air. He has flown more than150 different makes and models of aircraft.

Food and beverages will be available from a variety of vendors, and parking will be available on site for the disabled. If needed, additional parking will be available at the Johnson County Fair Grounds with bus transportation to the Airshow. The event is open and free to the public. Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport, owned and operated by the University of Central Missouri, is located four miles west of Warrensburg on U.S. Highway 50. The airport serves as a training facility for the university’s aviation program while also serving Johnson County, Mo., as a public community airport.
