Sone may say 2017 is the year of Nicole Kidman, Cannes darling, or some others may say it’s the year of Robert Pattinson. But it’s actually been secretly the year of Carrie Coon all along. Star of The Leftovers, the third season of Fargo, and currently filming a Spielberg movie, Coon is on the rise. And what better way to round out a great year than by adding a Steve McQueen movie to your slate?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coon has joined Widows, that thriller with the incredible cast about a group of wives who band together to finish their husbands’ heist gone awry. The cast includes Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Andre Holland, and Daniel Kaluuya, and is currently in production. Coon will shoot her portion after she’s done with her work on Steven Spielberg’s The Papers, which is also filming right now.

THR reports that Coon will play “a widow who declines to join the others in the job,” so there’s no telling whether her role will be one of passive observer or full-blown antagonist. We’d be totally fine with both.

Coon has generated plenty of Emmy buzz for her turns on The Leftovers and Fargo. Her role in The Papers is Meg Greenfield, a “no-nonsense editor” who helps the Washington Post break the story of the Pentagon Papers.
