The City of Warrensburg is gearing up for "Burg Fest," scheduled for Sept. 22-23 in downtown Warrensburg.

Warrensburg Main Street, Inc., and Big Brothers, Big Sisters is co-sponsoring the fifth annual event that takes place around the courthouse.

Julie Turnipseed, Warrensburg Main Street director, detailed many of the offerings that weekend.

"We have a pageant, a cornhole tournament, a glow run, children's events, great food, games, dance groups and tumbling groups," she said. "And on Friday, we have Random Access and the Nace Brothers, and on Saturday night we have Mudflap Mafia and that great '80s band, Members Only."

The Warrensburg All High School Reunion will be celebrating along with community members around the Main Stage. In addition, the Warrensburg High School Homecoming Football game will be shown on a big screen.

On Saturday, there will be a Warrensburg Wheels Car Show and Farmers Market, and plenty of local talent on stage located in front of the Johnson County Courthouse with a line up of special talent from around the community all day long.

On Friday, activities start at 4 p.m., opening ceremony is at 6 and continues until 11 p.m. Vendors close at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, festivities begin at 10 a.m. and finish at 11 p.m. Vendors close at 7 p.m.
A beer garden will stay open late and have plenty of live music. The City Council on Monday night voted to suspend the open container ordinance for the duration of the special event in the area that will be fenced off.
