New charges have been announced against Jema Donahue and two other suspects, related to the Javon Donahue Murder Investigation. 

On Monday, information was provided to the Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Russell, who filed charges against additional suspects in the murder investigation.

According to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, charges were filed against 50-year-old Ricky W. Armstrong, for tampering with evidence by helping to dispose of the victim’s body. His bond was set at $75,000. Armstrong is currently in custody.

Charges were also filed against the mother of Jema, 60-year-old Margaret “Peggy” Heffernan, of Knob Noster. Based on the information provided by the Sheriff’s Office, she was charged with Destruction of Evidence and Abandonment of a corpse. Heffernan’s bond was set at $75,000. According to the press release, Margaret Heffernan surrendered to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, with counsel.

Also on Monday, additional charges were brought against Jema Donahue for the murder of her husband. In addition to the original charge of 2nd Degree Murder, charges of Armed Criminal Action, Abandonment of a Corpse, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Concealing a Felony, and Tampering with Evidence were leveled against Jema Donahue. Her new bond was set at $250,000.

31-year-old Jema Donahue, was originally arrested in Sedalia on Saturday (Apr 22), for 2nd Degree Murder. The case is still under investigation.
