I started up this segment "A Look Back With Doug" with the intent to look back on this day in history, but this is not the case today.

Lately, I have had major cravings for peaches. I have never been so big on them in my life. I have driven to the peach orchards in Waverly, got peaches from the Farmer's Market, made a peach pie from peaches at the grocery store, had peach wine from Baltimore Bend and St. James and now I'm even eating peach yogurt and ice cream.

I just can't get enough of the peaches. On my recent snack of peach yogurt, I suddenly got the Presidents of the United States song 'Peaches' stuck in my head.

'Peaches' came out my senior year in high school in 1996, during the height of the alternative push. The song made it into the top 10 in the US Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and top 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

It is said that this song did spring peach sales a bit and I have to admit, when I hear it I have to have a peach. Just writing this, I've had one peach yogurt and a peach. Yum.

It is hard to believe that this song was on the same album as 'Lump' and 'Kitty.'

The Presidents of the United States of America still play and this last summer were in Kansas City and Springfield. They are one of the alternative bands of the 1990s that I would love to see. Maybe they'll come around.

While we wait, be sure to check out their original video of 'Peaches.'
