There is way too much talk about the deflated balls from the AFC Championship, so let's turn our attention to some big basketball. Last I heard, there was no scandal involving deflated basketballs.

Today (Jan. 24) you could have the chance to take in five basketball games.

First off you can start at the Smith-Cotton High School with the SC/McDonald's Basketball Tournament. The Consolation game will begin at Noon with Northeast playing Parkview. The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers will play for third place against the Center Yellowjackets at around 1:30 and then Nixa will take on Hickman for first place at 3 p.m.

Then get into your car and travel up Highway 65, make a left onto 16th Street and go to the State Fair Community College parking lot and enjoy the SFCC Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners basketball games.

The Lady Roadrunners will battle for first place in Region 16, against another undefeated team in Region 16, Mineral Area Community College. You don't even have to stop for dinner.

The State Fair Community College Booster Club will hold its annual chili and soup supper from 4-6 p.m. at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus when the Roadrunners take on the Cardinals from Mineral Area College. The funds are used to support SFCC’s athletic programs.
Tickets for the supper are $5 for adults and $3 for children age six to 12. The meal includes soup or chili, a drink and dessert. Tickets may be purchased the night of the game.
SFCC also invites members of area civic organizations to attend Civic Club Night that night. Civic club members may pick up free admission passes at their club meetings.

It’s also Roadrunner picture signing night. The men’s team will sign photos during halftime of the women’s game, and the Lady Roadrunners will sign at halftime of the men’s game.
The Lady Roadrunners’ game against the Lady Cardinals is at 5:30 p.m., and the Roadrunners’ game against the Cardinals is at 7:30 p.m.
I hope to see you courtside.
